Armenian ambassador to Germany Viktor Yengibaryan met with the Chairman of the Bundestag Committee on Foreign Affairs, Armin Laschet, the Embassy of Armenia to Germany reports.
The main topic of the talk was the peace agreement initialed between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the establishment of interstate relations between the two countries.
“It is good that the two countries have chosen the path of peace and normalization of relations. The peace agreement will end the almost 40-year-long conflict that began with the collapse of the Soviet Union. The governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan have used this step as an opportunity to end the suffering of people in the region and inspire hope for a better future. The agreement also contributes to stabilizing the entire Caucasus region and opens new paths between Europe and Central Asia. Germany will continue to support the peace and reconciliation process on both sides,” Laschet noted.
The Armenian ambassador, in turn, noted that the agreements reached in Washington are beneficial for both the countries of the region and the European Union.
“The rules of the game have changed, the logic of conflict will be replaced by the logic of comprehensive cooperation, and everyone will benefit from this cooperation,” added Ambassador Yengibaryan.
The interlocutors discussed also bilateral cooperation between Armenia and Germany.
