The current state of Azerbaijan-France relations is at lowest point, Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov said at a press conference on the results of 2023, Azerbaijani media reports.
“Azerbaijan is not causative of this. Azerbaijan did not have any intentions of taking steps against France,” the Minister noted.
Bayramov said that France has always been pro-Armenian.
“Despite that, France was mediator in Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict with Azerbaijan’s consent. During these years, France hid its pro-Armenian position. This happened till 2020. After the 44-day war, France could no longer hide this position, went further and showcased its an anti-Azerbaijani position. After that, the first blows began to hit the relations,” Azerbaijani Minister said.
The Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that if France reconsiders its policy on Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus, then giving some opinions for the future would be possible.
"In many cases, the author of initiatives against Azerbaijan is no longer Armenia, but France itself. Which, countless initiatives have been put forward by France in the Security Council against Azerbaijan," the minister emphasized.
