"At the call of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a joint statement was adopted on October 9 in Moscow following consultations between Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
With this statement the parties reaffirmed their commitment to a ceasefire for humanitarian purposes from 12:00, October 10, 2020, for the exchange of prisoners of war, other detainees and the bodies of the casualties, mediated by the International Committee of the Red Cross, in accordance with the latter's criteria.
However violating its own commitment, Azerbaijan continued hostilities in various parts of the front. The settlements of the Syunik region of the Republic of Armenia were hit. The provocative actions of the Azerbaijani army are accompanied by political statements, which can not be interpreted otherwise than Azerbaijan violates the ceasefire agreement.
In order to disguise or perhaps justify its policy, the Azerbaijani side has started spreading misinformation, making false accusations that the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia are keeping settlements and the front line under fire.
We strongly condemn Azerbaijan's actions aimed at thwarting the ceasefire agreement and warn that the entire responsibility for the situation lies with the Turkish-sponsored Azerbaijani leadership", the MFA statement reads.
