Accompanied by the RA Minister of Defense David Tonoyan and the Minister of High Technological Industry Hakob Arshakyan the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited the Kalashnikov automatic rifle factory opened in Armenia.
The Prime Minister took a tour in the plant of the AK-103 Kalashnikov rifle which is based on the base of the "Neutron CJSC" and got acquainted with the production process. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin also took part in the tour.
The Prime Minister was informed that 50,000 units of rifles will be produced annually in the factory. It is also planned to produce nanofibers. The plant will also produce optical-electronic and night thermal devices. After the full testing, the production will start and the demand of the RA Ministry of Defense will be satisfied within a year.
The agreement on the production of the famous Russian automatic rifle in Armenia was signed in August 2018 by "Royalsys Engineering ltd" and the "Kalashnikov" concern. Part of the product will be replenished by the RA Armed Forces, and the other will be exported.
Prime Minister Pashinyan considered the establishment of "Kalashnikov" production in Armenia important and assessed it as a result of close cooperation between Armenia and Russia in the field of military industry.
